Dynamics 365 Business Central 2024 Wave 2 (BC Version 25): Add extended text to project planning lines.

Hi Folks,

With Dynamics 365 Business Central 2024 Wave 2 (BC Version 25) Microsoft added capability to add extended text to project planning lines. Like Sales and Purchase documents user can add extended text on project planning lines for items, resource, general ledger accounts.

Click search Icon on top right corner or use hotkeys (Alt +Q). Search for Items, click on related link for Items. The system will open the Items List.

Double click on Item to open the Item card. Click on “Extended Texts” as shown below.

If no extended text exists, then the blank page will open. Click on NEW.

Define the extended text. 

• If you want to apply extended text only for projects in a specific language, fill in the Language Code field. 
• To use all language codes, select the All Language Codes checkbox.
• Fill in the short text on Description field.
• Starting Date and Ending Date: Define the dates period to limit the use of extended text. The Document Date on project planning line is used as a filter. 
• Text: In the text field write the extended text as shown below.
• Select the relevant checkboxes for the document types where you want the extended text printed. To include projects, select Projects on the Sales FastTab.
• User can activate the Automatic Ext. Texts to automatically add an extended text on sales, purchases, or project documents for an item.

Close the page. Click search Icon on top right corner or use hotkeys (Alt +Q). Search for Projects. The Project List will open. Open Project card for Project you want to add extended Text. Go to lines and click on Project Planning Lines.

Add the item line.

Select the line item for which you want to add extended text. Click on action “Insert Ext. Texts”.

The system inserts the extended text defined for the item with type as TEXT.

Note: Similarly, we can use extended text for resources and g/l accounts.
