Dynamics 365 Business Central 2024 Wave 1 (BC Version 24): Send Reminders

Hi Folks,

On our previous blog related to Reminder, we showed on how we can setup reminders. Refer to the link below. 

Dynamics 365 Business Central 2024 Wave 1 (BC Version 24): Setup Reminder Terms and Levels.

Now let’s talk on how we can send reminders and later see the new feature of Reminder Automation.

Once we setup the Reminder Term Code on the customer’s we can now send the Reminders.

Choose the search icon on top right corner or use hotkeys (Alt +Q). Click on Reminders.

The System will open the list page of Reminders. Click on Create Reminders. This will open a report with many filter option and Posting Date, Document Date. 

Posting Date on the option page specifies the date that will appear as the posting date on the header of the reminder.

Document Date on the option page specifies the date that will appear as the document date on the header of the reminder. This date is used to calculate interest and to check the due date of the reminder.

As shown on below posted sales invoice, the due date is 3/7/2025 and when we put Document Date on above option page as 3/8/2025, system will create reminder for all outstanding invoices with due date prior to 3/8/25 (i:e <=3/8/2025). The Grace Period for level 1 reminder is 0D means reminder can be send immediately on the Due Date of outstanding invoices.

Click OK on the Report. The System create the Reminder. There are many other action’s you can explore, to keep it short we are covering key feature.

Click on Reminder list to see the details. The system generate the Reminder with Document Date and Posting Date as defined on the Option page. System besides the invoice amount added some Interest Income and Additional Fess as per setup.

Click on Issue to Issue the Reminder to customer. If you want to replace the Posting date of Reminder, enable “Replace Posting Date” = True and define the Positing date on the field below.

Hide Email Dialog = True will not open the outlook e-mail window, send an email silently. I have marked it False to demonstrate. 

Click on OK. The Reminder issued and can be seen in Issued Reminder.

On Issued Reminders, click on “Send by Email”.

Below window will pop up.

Later the Email window pop up as show below, Click on Send email.

Below is the Email received

Note: Do not deleted the Issued Reminder, in case you want the system to discard them just Cancel the Reminder, as system updates the Reminder Level on Customer Ledger entry and Deletion won’t reset them.

Click Cancel to cancel the reminder.
