Apps Update Cadence – Managing Business central Apps
In Business Central SaaS apps include custom apps, third party apps, Microsoft apps which need to be updated on MS minor and major releases. Updates could be due to a new feature role out or fixes to known issues. To keep the tenant up to date you have to keep checking for the updates and install the latest updates regularly.
To manage the apps, the Admin center provides the Manage Apps page.
The System list all the installed apps and suggest if the updates are available.
- The Latest Available version column shows the latest available version of the app.
- The Available Update Action column shows the action to be taken. Action required means you have to take some action before performing the app update. Install Update means the app is ready to install
In Business Central 2023 Release Wave 2 Microsoft introduced “Apps Update Cadence” on admin center page.
Using this feature you can schedule the apps to be updated from apps source based on each major update, each minor and major update. MS by default set Apps Update Cadence to Default.
Currently the Default update Cadence means, MS will update the apps with each Major roll out.
